A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW PRESIDENT, Brenda Randall
I am proud to have grown up in Calhoun and equally proud to have graduated from Calhoun High School. We share lots of the same memories, and have much history that needs to be preserved for generations to come.
It was a source of pride which allowed me to boast to my late hubby, Jim, a graduate of West Monroe High, that Calhoun…not WMHS…started the practice of following their sports teams “to the ends of the earth”. I can remember riding all over north LA with my mom and dad to follow the basketball teams to countless local, regional and state playoffs. It was a great geography lesson!
And, that old time clock in the gymnasium! How long did my father keep that relic going because funds weren’t made available for our little country school? We might have been small, but we were mighty and resourceful.
Success, in varying forms, has followed most of us, and Calhoun High and it’s teachers and staff can take much of the credit. Not all of us have PhD’s, but a remarkable percentage does. Not all of us own our own successful businesses, but many do. Many of us are “just plain folks” who’ve had a good life, reared great kids and have very few regrets. We are a group of world travelers and adventurers. We all share that common thread of “something very unique and special” that was CHS.
Calhoun High School Alumni Association was formed to help preserve the history and memorabilia of CHS, its families and our little town. The board consists of those who believe in those goals. We have fun, and we share memories, both old ones and current ones, as we try to plan events in honor of our school. We seriously want to involve ALL graduates of CHS as we pass the leadership roles to others. We welcome you to join us.
