CALHOUN HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION APRIL 2010
The Time for Homecoming is Now!
We're finally in the home stretch with our reunion fast approaching. We hope you've saved the date (May 29th) and already sent in your registration.
If you haven't, it's not too late. We will be able to sign up all last minute alums until May 24, 2010 so if you haven't done so, please complete the enclosed registration form and get it back to us with your payment ASAP. It's shaping up to be a day you won't want to miss.
Reunion registration will begin at 4 PM, giving individual classes enough time to hold their own reunions during lunchtime and early afternoon. Having your class gathering held earlier in the day will be a perfect complement to the broader reunion in the evening. Better yet, why not hold your
class reunion the evening before?
That would give you and your classmates plenty of time to
catch up and share some memories.
TRIBUTE TO OUR VETERANS
No better time than Memorial Day to pay special tribute to our Veterans during our evening program. There's still time to submit your service information.

CLASSES HONORED
Invitations have gone out to some 75 Alumni for a special gathering of the classes from 1930-1945. A light lunch will be served at the Wingate Hotel.
The CHS Shop is Open
We will have a good supply of
our first ever CHS
cookbook, T-shirts and photo
CDs for sale.
Writers' Table
We want to give all you published authors the opportunity to promote your books at the reunion. Please send us a copy of your book (or books, if more than one) along with your class year and purchasing information or business card. We will display these at the Reunion. This will allow all our literary alumni to publicize their work and perhaps make a few sales. Please let us know by May 24, 2010 if you wish to participate in our writer's table.
Basketball Free-Throw Contest
Will be held at 5PM at the Convention Center. This time we will have more chairs for the
spectators. Winners will receive recognition during the evening's program. Come challenge
the last Reunion winners, Tommee Coon Caldwell '65 and Roy Turner '58, for the title.
Silent Auction 4PM - 7PM (No bids taken after 7 PM)
Many wonderful items have already been donated. The auction and other fundraising efforts help to offset our costs and build our scholarship fund. It's a worthy cause so come prepared to bid. Selected items are posted on our website. To whet your interest, here are a few of the items you could be taking home:
Diamond Ring Coca-cola Collectibles Humidors
Cappodimonti Frog Lead Crystal Candleholders Birdhouse
Digital Camera Case Handmade Quilt and Pillow
Special Guests
Our three scholarship winners will attend the Reunion. They are 2008 winner, Kristi Butler, daughter of Margaret Golson Butler '80; 2009 winner, Macey Dalrymple, granddaughter of Dr. Jack Golson '41 and Dorothy Wright Golson '82, and our first Earnest "Stinky" Turner Memorial Scholarship winner, Fletcher Marsh, son of Deborah Beasley '82.
OOPS: 'Chamber Launches New Park in Calhoun with Fun Event'
With that one headline in our last newsletter, we gave away credit for all the hard work of the Calhoun Civic Club for the event they sponsored on November 14, 2009. The all-day event helped to publicize the Calhoun Community Wellness Park the Civic Club developed. The festivities, which were organized by Sandy Sims Ezell '80, featured information booths, a fun air slide for the kids, many beautiful antique cars to examine, a healthy run/walk on the new track, a riveting presentation by historian Lee Estes for and about area veterans, followed by a delicious spread and live music. It was a wonderful day, a wonderful tribute to our veterans, and a tremendous contribution to our community by the Calhoun Civic Club. Our sincerest thanks to the Club for a wonderful time and our sincerest apologies for getting it wrong!
We will be able to take credit card payments for items purchased at the Reunion (silent auction & merchandise) but registration payments must be made by check or money order.
